Japanese Voice Cast Announced for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi

The Japanese voice cast for the new anime series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi has been officially announced. "The Ninth Jedi," one of the most beloved episodes of the Star Wars: Visions anthology released in 2021, is now being turned into a standalone series. Chinatsu Akasaki continues to voice the character Lah Kara, while Nao Ōmori will bring the character Nawaam to life.

The original short film was produced by Production I.G and directed by Kenji Kamiyama. The story followed a family specializing in lightsaber forging and the adventures of young heroine Lah Kara. Thanks to the intense interest from fans, Lucasfilm decided to expand this universe and gave the green light for a special anime series for "The Ninth Jedi" as part of the Star Wars: Visions Presents series.

In addition to Akasaki, the experienced voice actor Nao Ōmori also joins the cast. Ōmori is known for his roles in productions such as Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer. The other characters and additional voice actors for the series are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Although the release date has not yet been finalized, it is planned to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2027.

The Star Wars: Visions anthology was highly acclaimed for the unique interpretations different Japanese animation studios brought to the Star Wars universe. "The Ninth Jedi" stood out especially for its story that added depth to lightsaber mythology and its impressive visuals. Therefore, the series being turned into a standalone production is an exciting development for both Star Wars fans and anime enthusiasts.
