Steins;Gate Re:Boot Release Date Announced: The Legend Returns!

One of the most beloved productions in the sci-fi world, Steins;Gate, is returning with a modern touch. Developer MAGES. has officially announced that Steins;Gate Re:Boot, prepared in honor of the series' 15th anniversary, will be released on August 20, 2026. The game will be available to players on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam), and notably, the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 platforms.
This new version is not just a simple graphical update; all of the game's visuals have been redrawn by original artist huke. Additionally, players can expect the 'E-mote' system, which makes character animations more lively, and a completely revamped user interface (UI). The most exciting development is the addition of a completely new story scenario and a new ending that were not present in the original game. The atmosphere is aimed to be further deepened with new music from composer Takeshi Abo and re-recorded voice acting.
Released for Xbox 360 for the first time in 2009, Steins;Gate entered our lives as the second installment in the Science Adventure series. The production, which tells the story of Okabe Rintarou and his friends accidentally inventing a time machine in Akihabara, quickly became one of the best examples of its genre. The series, etched into memory with the catchphrase "El Psy Kongroo", previously brought anime scenes into the game with Steins;Gate Elite; however, the Re:Boot version aims to modernize huke's unique art style while remaining faithful to its visual novel roots.
It has also been confirmed that the Japanese version of the game will include English subtitle support.
