Studio Khara Bridges the Gap with the Anime World for Baahubali: The Eternal War: Coming to Theaters in 2027!

Studio Khara, one of the most respected names in the anime world, is stepping into the Baahubali universe, a global phenomenon of Indian cinema. According to the official announcement, the studio will prepare a special sequence for the animated film titled Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1, which is scheduled to be released in 2027. This massive collaboration stands out as part of a huge international co-production bringing together studios from India, Japan, the UK, and France.
Studio Khara is a studio known especially for the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, which sets industry standards with its visual quality. Founded by legendary director Hideaki Anno, the studio will participate in this project through SlowCurve. In the project, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time director Mahiro Maeda will take on a key creative role, while the anime sequence will be directed by Akira Honma. Character designs are entrusted to Noriko Ito, whom we know from productions such as Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
Baahubali: The Eternal War takes the universe created by S.S. Rajamouli, the director of the original live-action films, to a much broader dimension. The film will focus on the life of Amarendra Baahubali after his death and the cosmic war between the Devas and the Asuras that takes place across 14 realms. While the stars of the original films, Prabhas and Ramya Krishnan, return to the voice cast, Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani will compose the film's music. The general direction of the film is undertaken by Ishan Shukla, whom we know from the Star Wars: Visions project.
This partnership holds the distinction of being the highest-budget production in the history of Indian animation and received great attention at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The fact that Studio Khara will blend Japanese anime aesthetics with Indian mythology could open the doors to a new era in the global animation industry. Fans will witness an adventure that transcends the borders of the Kingdom of Mahishmati with the first part of this two-part epic, which will be released in 2027.
