Suikoden: The Anime Producers Stress Loyalty to Original RPG
Suikoden: The Anime excitement is at its peak! In a special interview held at Anime Expo 2025, the producers detailed the motivation behind KONAMI's decision to bring this beloved RPG series to the anime world and how faithful the project will be to the original games.
Speaking to Anime News Network, the producers said, "The thing fans were most curious about was whether we would stay true to the story. And we promise them: we will preserve the spirit, characters, and political intrigues of Suikoden exactly." The anime, expected to cover the story of the first two games, will center on the 108 Stars of Destiny.
KONAMI has taken a series of steps to revive this long-silent cult series. Following last year's announcement of the Suikoden I & II HD Remaster versions, now comes the anime adaptation. The producers stated, "With the re-release of the games, a new generation of players has discovered the series. The anime is the most natural way to introduce this universe to a wider audience."
Regarding the visual style of the anime, the producers said that they will stay faithful to the original drawings of the games' famous character designer Junko Kawano and the music of Yoshitaka Hirota. "Fans can be sure that every scene they see on screen will feel like a frame from the games," the team said, also hinting that the Japanese voice cast will include familiar names from the games.
