Second Story Trailer Released for Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad – Release Date July 10

Exciting news for Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad fans: Bandai Namco has released the second story trailer for the game. The trailer showcases the dangers Kirito and his friends face in the new floors of Aincrad, along with familiar faces. The game will be released on July 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
The Sword Art Online series created by Reki Kawahara first started as a light novel in 2009 and quickly became a global phenomenon with anime, film, manga, and game adaptations. Echoes of Aincrad returns to the core mechanic of the series, the virtual reality MMORPG, and offers players a new adventure in the unexplored regions of Aincrad. Unlike previous SAO games, it promises a larger open world and a real-time combat system.
The newly released trailer features Kirito, Asuna, Yui, and other beloved characters from the series, as well as familiar enemies from previous games and a brand-new storyline. Developed by Bandai Namco, the title also aims to celebrate the series' 15th anniversary. At the end of the trailer, the message “Every floor has a secret” draws attention, and it is stated that players will encounter unexpected surprises while exploring Aincrad's 100 floors.
Echoes of Aincrad is not just a game, but also a turning point for fans of the series. While previous SAO games (such as Alicization Lycoris and Fatal Bullet) usually focused on a specific anime season, this title directly returns to the Aincrad world where the first season took place. This allows old fans to experience nostalgia while new players can easily adapt to the series. With about two weeks until the game's release, it is not yet known whether another trailer or demo version will come. However, the game is already available for pre-order, offered in both standard and Collector's Edition options.
Such side-story games expand the Sword Art Online universe while also attracting the interest of anime and light novel readers. The success of Echoes of Aincrad could also serve as a reference point for the series' future game projects. After the release on July 10, reactions from players and critics are eagerly awaited.
