The story of the series revolves around Hayato Kirishima, who encounters his childhood friend Haruki Nikaidō at his new school years later. Hayato thinks of Haruki, his closest playmate from childhood, as a boy; however, the person he finds before him is a young girl known as the school's most elegant and unattainable beauty. In the voice cast, Ikumi Hasegawa brings the character of Haruki to life, while Shunichi Toki voices Hayato. The cast also includes talented names such as Miharu Hanai (Himeko Kirishima), Natsumi Haruse (Minamo Mitake), and Fūka Izumi (Saki Murao).
On the production side, a team that will please genre enthusiasts is in charge. Directed by Chuanfeng Xu and produced by the Project No.9 studio, the anime's screenplay adaptation is handled by Deko Akao, known for hit productions such as Komi Can't Communicate and Witch Watch. The original light novel series, written by Yu Hibari and brought to life with illustrations by Shiso, has gained a large fan base with its manga adaptation, which has been ongoing since 2021. The character designs bear the signature of N-Nei Kurahashi, whom we know from The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten series.
Tenbin seems to be a candidate to be the essential watch of the summer season, especially for anime lovers who enjoy the "childhood friend" and "misunderstood identity" themes. Blending a nostalgic summer vibe with modern school romance, the production will meet the audience on Tokyo MX and BS Fuji channels in July 2026.
