Tensura Movie 2: Tears of the Azure Sea North American Tickets Are Now on Sale!

The long-awaited day is approaching for fans of the beloved isekai series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura)! North American tickets for the series' second feature film, Tensura Movie 2: Tears of the Azure Sea, have officially gone on sale. Releasing in the United States and Canada on May 1, 2026, the film will be brought to audiences through a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Available in both original Japanese audio (with English subtitles) and English dub, the production is set to prove the series' global popularity once again.
The film's story takes place immediately after the third season of the anime series and follows Rimuru Tempest and his friends as they travel to a private vacation island at the invitation of the Mage Dynasty Thalion. However, this peaceful getaway quickly turns into a dangerous mission with the arrival of Yura, a mysterious priestess from the underwater kingdom of Kaien. Forced to stop plans to awaken an ancient water dragon and solve the mystery behind the pollution threatening the 'Azure Sea,' Rimuru will engage in an epic struggle in the depths of the ocean. The production studio 8bit stated that they used advanced water physics CGI technologies for the first time in the series to depict the underwater world in this film.
Based on an original story penned by series creator Fuse, the film was prepared under the leadership of director Yasuhito Kikuchi. The anime journey, which began in 2018, has become a massive franchise with the light novel and manga series selling over 56 million copies worldwide. Following the 1.4 billion yen box office success of the first film, Scarlet Bond (2023), this new production is expected to raise the bar even higher. Additionally, the 4th season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which began on April 3, continues to keep fans' excitement alive just before the film's release date.
On the music side, series regular TRUE returns with the theme song 'Utopia.' With the start of ticket sales in North America, release dates for Europe and other regions have also begun to become clear. Although no definitive date has been given for fans in Turkey yet, thanks to Crunchyroll's global distribution network, the film is expected to be available on platforms or in select theaters in the region soon. Those who want to witness this new saga of Rimuru are advised to keep a close eye on local cinema calendars and official announcements.
