The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Season 2 Excitement: New Details Shared at AnimeJapan 2026!

One of the sweetest romantic comedies in the anime world, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten (Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteta Ken), is preparing to return with its second season. At the AnimeJapan 2026 event held on March 29, 2026, the series' lead voice actress Manaka Iwami (Mahiru Shiina) met with fans to share details about the highly anticipated new season. During the event held at Tokyo Big Sight, Iwami hinted at the future of the series, sending fan excitement to its peak.
During the event, Iwami stated that this was the most fun she has had among all the AnimeJapan events she has attended so far. Touching upon the provocative and sweet nature of the scenes where her character, Mahiru Shiina, constantly calls the main character Amane Fujimiya "Amane-kun," the artist emphasized how intimate the atmosphere in the studio was. Signals were given that the duo's relationship would deepen in the second season and that the "sugar-coated" moments fans love so much would increase in frequency.
Based on the popular light novel series written by Saekisan and illustrated by Hanekoto, the anime achieved great success in 2023 with its first season. Produced by Project No.9, the series follows the coincidental neighborly relationship between Amane, an antisocial high school student, and Mahiru, known as the school's "angel." Since the finale of the first season, fans have been eagerly waiting for the emotional bond between the two to become official and for the story to enter a more romantic phase.
This new season holds great importance for the series' fanbase because the success of the first season revived interest in "healing" (iyashikei) works within the romantic comedy genre. Manaka Iwami's energy at the event shows that the production process is proceeding smoothly and that the warm atmosphere fans expect will be preserved. Although a definitive release date has not yet been given, the series is expected to return to screens within 2026. We will keep our eyes and ears open for new trailer and date announcements from official channels!
