The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 on Crunchyroll: Release Window and Platform Announced

Crunchyroll has officially announced that the highly anticipated third season of The Apothecary Diaries will be released on its platform during Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. According to Anime Corner, the news provides fans with a long-term roadmap. The early announcement, while the second season is still airing, clearly shows the producers' confidence in the series.
Adapted from Natsu Hyuuga's light novel series of the same name, The Apothecary Diaries made a big splash with its first season in the 2023-2024 period. The anime, which draws attention with its mystery and botany-focused story set in the Chinese imperial palace, quickly became a phenomenon thanks to Maomao's intelligence and engaging narrative. The second season started in January 2025 and is planned for 24 episodes. The rapid announcement of the third season points to the series' continued popularity and the studio's long-term plans.
This move by Crunchyroll is particularly significant for the international audience. The platform previously simulcast the first season of The Apothecary Diaries and quickly made it one of the most-watched titles. The split of the third season into two separate periods (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027) signals that the story will be covered more comprehensively this time. Meanwhile, no official statement has been made about the studio yet; it is a matter of curiosity whether TOHO Animation and OLM, which handled the first two seasons, will continue.
Given the light novels, manga adaptations, and popularity of the series, the third season is expected to cover Maomao's new adventures in court intrigues and the deepening of her relationship with Jinshi. Although some think that such a long gap between seasons (spring 2027) could be risky in the anime industry, it is believed that the producers will use the time well to maintain quality. Fans are eagerly awaiting more details in the coming months with new trailers and visuals.
