The Black Cat and the Witch's Classroom Anime Has Begun: Winds of Magic Blow in the New Visual!

The long-awaited day has arrived! Yosuke Kaneda’s popular manga The Black Cat and the Witch's Classroom (Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoushitsu) has begun its journey on television screens as of today. With the broadcast of the first episode, a second key visual that has excited fans was also shared. In this new visual, we see the series' main protagonist, Spica Virgatus, using her unique 'Virgo' magic.

The series' creator, Yosuke Kaneda, was previously known for Boarding School Juliet (Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet), a beloved example of the romantic comedy genre that achieved great success worldwide. This new work, in which Kaneda blends his unique drawing style and character dynamics with a fantasy world, has been meeting readers on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform since 2022. The anime adaptation aims to faithfully bring this colorful and magical atmosphere of the manga to the screen.

The story revolves around Spica, who has no magical powers but wants to become a witch more than anything. While Spica struggles to reach her dreams, a mysterious talking black cat appears before her. However, this cat is no ordinary animal; he is actually Claude, a cursed genius mage. While the master-apprentice relationship between the two is the scene of both funny and action-packed moments, the zodiac-based magic system adds a unique depth to the series. Spica's rivalry with her classmates during this challenging training process is also at the center of the story.

Produced by the Felix Film studio, the anime also boasts an ambitious voice cast. Hinaki Yano brings the character Spica to life, while Kaito Ishikawa voices the charismatic teacher Claude.
