First Character Visual Arrives from The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan Anime: Loki Leevahl Introduced
The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan (Saikyou Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku) anime's promotional process has officially begun. The production team released the series' first character visual for Loki Leevahl and announced the voice artist who will voice the character. This visual is of great importance as it is the first individual character introduction shared for the anime adaptation.
In the released visual, we clearly see Loki Leevahl's anime design. It is noteworthy that the elegant and mysterious atmosphere of the character from the original light novel illustrations has been successfully transferred to the anime. Along with the visual, it was also announced that Loki's voice will be provided by Miyu Tomita. Despite her young age, Tomita is known for her roles in popular series such as Made in Abyss and Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, and it is already a matter of curiosity how she will reflect both Loki's cold-blooded and emotional sides.
So what is The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan? The series began as a light novel written by Izushiro and published under the Fantasia Bunko label. The story follows Alus Reigin, known as humanity's strongest magicmaster, who grows tired of endless battles and missions and plans to retire and live a peaceful academy life. But of course, things don't go as planned; Alus starts working as an instructor at Alpha Academy, and he has to both hide his rank and deal with a group of talented and troubled students. The series started as a web novel in 2015 and later received light novel and manga adaptations by Hobby Japan, gaining a solid fan base especially among readers who love the 'strong protagonist at an academy' theme.
The anime adaptation was first announced in 2024 and has been eagerly awaited by fans ever since. The light novel's long-running story, exceeding 20 volumes, and the ongoing manga adaptation provide a vast source material for the anime. Loki Leevahl stands out as one of Alus's most important students and allies at the academy. Loki, a loyal character beneath his cold and distant demeanor, has one of the series' most beloved dynamics with Alus: their master-apprentice relationship.
The production team hinted that the character visual series, starting with Loki, will continue in the coming weeks with other main characters such as Alus Reigin and Felicia Fenn. No official announcement has been made yet regarding the anime's release date and animation studio, but the start of character visuals is the strongest sign that we will soon see a promotional video (PV) and a release window announcement.
