New Trailer from THE RIBBON HERO: Theme Song by Girls Archives, New Names Added to Voice Cast
THE RIBBON HERO is a new anime film based on mangaka Osamu Tezuka's legendary Ribbon no Kishi (Princess Knight) series. With the release of the second trailer, it was announced that the film's theme song will be performed by Girls Archives and that three new voice actors have joined the cast.
The trailer features new footage of our hero Sapphire's adventures, with Kobayashi Seiran voicing her close friend Pine, Uchiyama Kouki voicing Velvet, an official of the religious organization "Mitra", and Shintani Mayumi voicing Zirco, Sapphire's caretaker. Osamu Tezuka's Ribbon no Kishi, serialized from 1953 to 1956, is one of the pioneering works of the shōjo genre, telling the story of Princess Sapphire, who was born with two genders instead of a heart, and her struggle for the throne. This new film brings Tezuka's legacy to modern cinematic language and stands out as part of the "Tezuka 100th Year" celebrations that began in 2023. It is not yet clear whether directors like Mamoru Hosoda are involved in the director's seat, but it is known that the film is being produced by Tezuka Productions and its partners.
The trailer's energetic music and visual style indicate that the film will appeal to both classic fans and new viewers. Girls Archives, who performs the theme song, is a rapidly rising music group in Japan making a name in the anime industry.
