Main Trailer and New Details Arrive for The World’s Strongest Witch Anime: Starts October 7

The countdown has officially begun for The World’s Strongest Witch, one of the most anticipated fantasy series of the 2026 fall season. The production team released the anime's main trailer and key visual, while also announcing additional cast members, staff details, and theme songs. The anime will premiere in Japan on October 7, 2026.
The released main trailer offers our first comprehensive look at the series' magic system, dark fantasy atmosphere, and the protagonist's overwhelming power. In the new visual shared alongside the trailer, the witch protagonist takes center stage, surrounded by magical effects and gothic architecture that draw attention. The trailer emphasizes the series' dramatic side as well as its action scenes, signaling that the story will not be just a power fantasy.
One of the most important updates concerns the cast. According to Anime News Network, beloved voice actor Yuto Uemura (Atsushi Nakajima in Bungou Stray Dogs, Thorfinn in Vinland Saga) is the latest addition to the cast. Although which character Uemura will voice is briefly shown in the trailer, it is stated that the character will play a key role in the story. In addition to the previously announced main cast, new names voicing supporting characters are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The production's music side is quite ambitious. Among the names coming together for theme songs and music are Arisa Okehazama (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto / The Apothecary Diaries), popular music collective HoneyWorks, duo group HaKoniwalily, and the rising project of recent times Rokudenashi. It was announced that Arisa Okehazama will handle the series' atmospheric background music, while the opening and ending songs will be performed by HoneyWorks, HaKoniwalily, and Rokudenashi. Okehazama's presence, especially highly praised for her work on The Apothecary Diaries, has significantly raised expectations for musical quality.
The World’s Strongest Witch, originally titled Sekai Saikyou no Majo, is a series that began as a light novel and later gained a wide fanbase with its manga adaptation. The story follows a witch with absolute power who tries to live an ordinary life by hiding her strength, but is forced to return to the stage due to political intrigues between kingdoms and the awakening of an ancient calamity. The series stands out by subverting the classic 'overpowered' protagonist trope and exploring themes of loneliness and responsibility that come with power. The light novel had sold more than 1 million copies in Japan, becoming one of the most successful debuts in the fantasy category in recent years.
The anime's announcement comes at a time when interest in fantasy and magic-themed series is rising again. After the success of productions such as Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and Wistoria: Wand and Sword, which feature magic academies and witches, The World’s Strongest Witch is expected to gain similar momentum. With its October 7 premiere, the series is expected to have one of the strongest openings of the fall season, and a new trailer and streaming platform information are expected to be shared in the coming weeks. We will closely follow the developments.
