Tomokazu Seki Voices Rokudaira Kunishige in Kagurabachi Anime

Kagurabachi anime adaptation has received an exciting voice casting announcement. Famous seiyuu Tomokazu Seki (Athrun Zala in Gundam SEED, Gilgamesh in Fate/stay night) will bring to life Rokudaira Kunishige, the father of protagonist Chihiro Rokudaira. Along with the announcement, the first visual of the character and a special promotional video were also shared.
Kunishige is one of the key figures in the series: a legendary swordsmith and the creator of six enchanted blades. These swords, which form the foundation of the story, play a central role in Chihiro's journey of revenge. Tomokazu Seki's deep and authoritative voice is expected to reflect both Kunishige's creative genius and his tragic fate.
The manga of the same name by Takeru Hokazono began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023 and quickly gained a large fanbase. Blending dark fantasy, samurai aesthetics, and modern action, the series is regarded as one of the most notable works of the 'New Generation Jump.' The anime adaptation will be produced by CygamesPictures and is planned to be released in 2025.
In the released promotional video, a scene of Kunishige forging a sword is shown, with background music reflecting the series' melancholic atmosphere. The character visual depicts Kunishige in traditional Japanese attire holding a hammer. Fans will notice that this visual is a direct reference to one of the early chapters of the manga.
No official release date has been announced for the series yet, but a new trailer and additional cast members are expected to be revealed at Anime Japan 2025. Who will voice Chihiro Rokudaira is another highly anticipated detail. The Kagurabachi anime project is poised to be one of the most exciting releases of 2025 for both manga fans and new viewers.
