Tougen Anki Anime Returns: "Nikko/Kegon Falls Arc" to Premiere in October 2026

Exciting news continues to arrive regarding the anime adaptation of Tougen Anki, a modern take on the Momotaro legend. The series' highly anticipated new episodes, the "Nikko/Kegon Falls Arc" (Nikko/Kegon no Taki-hen), will meet viewers in October 2026. According to the official announcement, the new season will be broadcast in Japan on Nippon TV's prestigious "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" block.
The voice cast for the key characters joining the story in this new arc has also been confirmed. Renowned anime voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto will voice the mysterious character from Rasetsu Academy, Hagure Nekosaki. He will be joined by Kento Ito, who will play Yu Innami, another instructor at the academy. This development, announced at the AnimeJapan 2026 event, was met with great enthusiasm by fans of the series.
Written by Yura Urushibara and serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine since 2020, Tougen Anki blends Japanese folklore with a bloody, modern conflict. The story follows Shiki Ichinose, who discovers that he carries Oni (demon) blood in his veins, as he wages a relentless struggle against the Momotaro Agency, which seeks to destroy him. The manga series has achieved significant commercial success, selling over 5.5 million copies worldwide.
The first season of the series was released in 2025 in two cours and drew attention by entering the global top 5 lists on platforms such as Netflix. Produced by Studio Hibari, the series quickly gained a loyal fanbase with its dark atmosphere and fluid action sequences. The new arc, starting in October 2026, will bring the events of Nikko and Kegon Falls, considered one of the most critical turning points in the story, to the screen.
Fans can catch up on previous episodes of the series on Crunchyroll and Netflix ahead of the new season. Directed by Ato Nonaka with music by Kohta Yamamoto, the production appears to be a strong contender for one of the most ambitious titles of the 2026 fall season.
