First Details Shared for Ushiro no Shoumen Kamui-san Anime: Tomokazu Sugita to Star!

The long-awaited details for the Ushiro no Shoumen Kamui-san (KAMUI: He’s Behind You) anime, which blends horror and comedy with adult content, have finally been shared. The lead character Kamui will be voiced by the legendary Tomokazu Sugita, known as Gintoki from Gintama. According to the official announcement, the series will meet the audience in July 2026. With the release of the first teaser video and key visual, the first clues about the project's tone and atmosphere have been provided.
The story revolves around Kamui, an exorcist who neutralizes supernatural beings and ghosts using unconventional and even "erotic" methods. Rishin Aono will voice Shizuka Mimizuka, a high school student with the ability to attract ghosts who accompanies him on this strange journey. The original manga by Eroki and Shinko Konoshiro has been serialized on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday and MangaONE platforms since 2020. The series quickly gained popularity among fans of the genre for combining horror elements with absurd humor.
The anime is being produced by Zero-G and ZG-R studios, with Takumi Tsukumo serving as director. Motofumi Nakajo is responsible for series composition, while character designs are handled by Toshinari Yamashita. The project will be presented under the Deregula label, known for WWWave Corporation's adult-oriented productions. The cast also includes experienced voice actors such as M.A.O (Oichi), Yuka Aisaka (Kyoko), and Shiori Izawa (Inagawa).
In a statement regarding his role, Tomokazu Sugita excited fans by noting that the recording sessions were held in an "intimate and serious atmosphere." This "erotic horror" production draws attention with its bold and comedic approach to classic ghost stories. The inclusion of a giant name like Sugita in the cast has further raised expectations for the production quality of the project. Anime fans will have to wait until the summer of 2026 to watch supernatural events being resolved in such a "different" way.
