Worldwide Gundam General Election 2025 Results Announced: The Legendary ν Gundam Takes the Top Spot!

The results of the Worldwide Gundam General Election 2025, held to determine the most beloved giant robots in the Gundam universe, have finally been announced. In the voting, which was conducted in 10 different languages with massive global participation, the star of the 1988 classic film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, ν Gundam (Nu Gundam), surpassed its rivals to be chosen as the world's most popular mobile suit once again.
Organized by Bandai Namco to celebrate the series' 45th anniversary and to mark the launch of the new official Gundam website, this massive poll was held between October 10 and December 25, 2025. In the election, where a total of over 1.33 million valid votes were cast, fans voted for their favorite robots every day. ν Gundam maintaining its position at the top proved once again how strong the loyalty to the series' roots remains. Designed personally by Amuro Ray and used in the final act of the legendary rivalry with Char Aznable, this iconic robot is considered a revolution in the mecha world, especially with its "fin funnel" weapon system and psycho-frame technology.
Not only classics but also modern series found their place at the top of the rankings. Alongside legends like Freedom Gundam from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series and Zeta Gundam, Gundam Aerial, the protagonist of one of the series' newest hits The Witch from Mercury, also placed high, demonstrating the power of the new generation of fans. Additionally, while Shining Gundam won the special "RX-78 Award" given in honor of the RX-78-2, the special "Mafty Award" for the 105th place went to Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound.
This election was not just a popularity test, but also an event celebrating the global impact of this massive brand created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. Bandai Namco announced that special new illustrations will be prepared for the first-place ν Gundam and other mobile suits that topped their respective language categories, to be released in the spring of 2026. It seems the 45th-anniversary celebrations for Gundam fans will continue without slowing down with new events and announcements as part of the Gundam Next Future - Road to 2025 project.
