New Voice for Yani Neko Anime Adaptation: Rina Honizumi to Voice Character Imoko

An exciting cast announcement has come for the anime adaptation of Nyannyan Factory's beloved manga Yani Neko. According to Japanese news site Natalie, the experienced voice actress Rina Honizumi will play Imoko, the 'diligent honor student' cat character in the series. Honizumi is known for her roles in productions such as Love Live! Sunshine!! and Kaginado.
Yani Neko, originally titled "ヤニねこ", was launched by Nyannyan Factory in 2021 and quickly gained a large fanbase. The manga depicts the daily lives of smoking cats in a humorous and warm manner. This unique concept of the series helped it go viral, especially on social media. The anime adaptation is expected to be released in 2025; however, the exact date has not been announced yet.
The character Imoko is one of the most popular figures in the manga. Although she appears from the outside to be a disciplined and successful high school student, she is actually a cat who secretly smokes. This contrast forms one of the series' main comedic elements. The selection of Rina Honizumi for this role has created great satisfaction among fans. Honizumi said in a statement about the matter, "I can't wait to reflect Imoko's both serious and secretly cute sides. It's a wonderful feeling to be part of this team."
More details about the anime adaptation will be announced in the coming months. Which other voice actors will join the cast, the production company, and the streaming platform have not yet been announced. However, thanks to Yani Neko's original story and character designs, it is considered certain that this adaptation will captivate both manga fans and new viewers. If you too are curious about the adventures of these cute but 'rebellious' cats, stay tuned!
