New Voice for the Second Season of Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers: Hina Suguta Becomes a DST Commander

Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers is adding an important voice to its second installment. According to Anime News Network, the beloved voice actress Hina Suguta will portray a new DST commander in the continuation of the series.
DST (Demon Samurai Troopers) defines the warriors who represent the forces of evil in the original Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (known as Ronin Warriors) universe. Although the identity of the character Suguta will voice has not yet been revealed, this move is interpreted as a sign that the series' roster of villains will expand.
Hina Suguta is recently known for her roles in productions such as “The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses” and “Ratman”. The young talent will appeal to both the nostalgic audience and new viewers by taking part in a modern adaptation of an 80s legend.
The original Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers series was produced by Sunrise studio between 1988 and 1989 and lasted for 39 episodes. A new animation adaptation of the series, which reached cult status with subsequent OVAs and manga, was announced in 2025. While the first episodes received praise for both their visual quality and updated story, the release date for the second installment has not yet been clarified.
This new adaptation stands out as a project brought to life in commemoration of the series' 35th anniversary. The production, which includes new team members alongside Sunrise, aims to combine the original spirit with modern anime trends. Suguta's participation has caused the second installment to be eagerly awaited.
Fans are curiously waiting for when the new installment will be released and who the other DST commanders will be. Official announcements are expected in the coming weeks. If the quality of the first episodes is maintained, Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers could be one of the most successful examples of a rebirth.
