Makoto Shinkai's unforgettable animated film your name. is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a special theatrical screening. North American distributor GKIDS has released a trailer for the special screening on August 14. According to Anime News Network, the film was originally released in Japan on August 26, 2016.
Originally titled Kimi no Na wa., your name. quickly became a global phenomenon with its story beginning with the body-swapping experiences of high school student Mitsuha living in the countryside and young Taki in Tokyo. The CoMix Wave Films production was also remembered for its music by RADWIMPS; themes of time, fate, and connection were blended with Shinkai's signature visual poetry.
Upon its release, the film received full marks from critics and broke box office records.
