Exciting Development for SAKAMOTO DAYS Live-Action Film: ScreenX Announcement and New Visuals Shared

SAKAMOTO DAYS, one of the most beloved new-generation series from Weekly Shonen Jump, is shifting gears on its journey to the big screen. The story of the legendary assassin created by Yuto Suzuki will greet fans with a live-action adaptation hitting theaters in Japan on April 29. According to the latest announcement, the film will be available in ScreenX format in 27 theaters across Japan. This special format will provide viewers with a 270-degree panoramic field of view, making them feel as if they are right in the middle of the action scenes.
The new promotional video and poster shared alongside the announcement focus on the three different forms of the series' protagonist, Taro Sakamoto. The visuals place side-by-side Sakamoto's past thin and ruthless assassin self, his present-day peaceful and overweight store owner self, and his famous "slimmed down" form where he pushes his limits during combat. This visual presentation offers clues as to how the manga's unique humor and high-tempo fight choreographies will be translated into the film.
SAKAMOTO DAYS, which Yuto Suzuki launched in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2020, quickly became a modern classic, selling millions of copies worldwide. The series follows Taro Sakamoto, who quit being an assassin for the woman he fell in love with, got married, and had a child, as he struggles against assassins from his past while trying to enjoy his retirement. The success of the manga stems not only from its character depth but also from its cinematic fight scenes and creative action sequences.
The year 2025 will be quite busy for SAKAMOTO DAYS fans. Following the anime adaptation starting in January, this live-action film coming in April aims to carry the series' popularity to its peak. The production, which will be released during "Golden Week," one of Japan's most important holiday periods, promises to present the series' signature fast and acrobatic fight scenes with massive visuals through ScreenX technology. While no official announcement has been made regarding the film's international release date, given the global success of the manga, expectations from fans worldwide are quite high.
