Mika Pikazo's Sci-Fi Project Re:bel Robotica is Being Adapted into a TV Anime

Mika Pikazo, one of the most talented illustrators in the anime and gaming world, has made a major announcement that has thrilled fans. Re:bel Robotica (Level Robochica), an original sci-fi project that Pikazo started as a doujinshi (independent comic) in 2017, is being adapted into a TV anime by Amuse Creative Studio. The first teaser visual shared with the announcement focuses on the series' mysterious protagonist, Lily, and it has been confirmed that Pikazo will personally handle the visual direction and story drafts for the project.
The name Mika Pikazo has appeared in many different areas of popular culture, especially in recent years. Known for her vibrant and colorful character designs in Nintendo's highly acclaimed game Fire Emblem Engage, the artist is also the creator of virtual YouTuber (VTuber) pioneers Kaguya Luna and Hololive English member Hakos Baelz. Pikazo's unique style, dominated by neon colors and futuristic details, forms the core aesthetic of the Re:bel Robotica project as well.
The story of the series takes place in the Shibuya (Tokyo) district in the year 2050, in a near future where technology promises effortless happiness to humans. In this world, humanoid machines called Robotica, designed to serve and please humans, have become a part of life. However, the emergence of a mysterious girl named Lily will shake the foundations of this seemingly perfect order. In her statement regarding the project, Pikazo said, "We wanted to create a story about people living in a world where happiness is taken for granted. I have thought about the concept of happiness and restrictions since I was a child; this work was created with the hope of finding something in this world."
The Re:bel Robotica project actually has a long history. Born as an independent work at the 2017 Comiket event, the project evolved into a large-scale multimedia project in 2019 with the participation of the publisher ARCH. Over time, the universe was further deepened with novels penned by Psycho-Pass 3 screenwriter Ryo Yoshigami and Strike the Blood author Gakuto Mikumo. Now, this rich world is preparing to be brought to television screens.
The real big surprise for fans will come very soon. Critical information such as the production studio, voice cast, and release date for the anime is expected to be announced at the Anime Expo 2026 panel to be held on July 4th. How Pikazo's unique visual vision will impact the animation medium has already become one of the most anticipated anime news stories of the year.
