Sakamoto Days Season 2 Starts in January 2027: First Trailer and New Cast Announced

Sakamoto Days fans have big news! The second season of the series will officially start in January 2027. According to sources such as Natalie in Japan and international Anime Corner, the key visual and teaser trailer for the new season were released simultaneously.
Directed by Masaki Watanabe and produced by TMS Entertainment, the production was highly acclaimed for its first season. Adapted from the manga of the same name by Yuto Suzuki, the series follows Taro Sakamoto, a retired hitman, as he grapples with his past while living an ordinary life. The first season aired in January 2025 and lasted 11 episodes.
The trailer for the new season shows action-packed scenes and indicates that the story will continue from where it left off. Additionally, it was announced that Kikunosuke Toya (known for his role as Denji in Chainsaw Man) has joined the voice cast. Although which character Toya will play has not yet been revealed, he is expected to take on an important role in the upcoming episodes of the series.
The manga continues to be published in Weekly Shonen Jump and has reached over 200 chapters so far. The second season is expected to start where the first season left off, covering popular story arcs such as the Lab Arc and Asakura Arc. In these arcs, fans will discover previously unseen abilities of Sakamoto and new members of his team.
For now, it has not been announced how many episodes the second season will have or when it will be available on international streaming platforms (Netflix, Crunchyroll, etc.). However, given the worldwide success of the first season, it is likely that the new season will follow a similar distribution strategy. Stay tuned for updates!
